Neurosurgery is surgery of the nervous system. Most people think of neurosurgery as brain surgery, but it is much more! It is the medical specialty concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of patients with injury to, or diseases/disorders of the brain, spinal cord, spinal column and peripheral nerves within all parts of the body. Examples include disc herniations, degenerative spinal disorders, carpal tunnel and Chiari malformations to name a few.

Services

Patients will have direct access to  providers and when necessary, UVNN will expedite the coordination of  patient care with an appropriate tertiary care center.

Appropriate patients may be offered surgical management at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital or New London Hospital where craniotomies, spine surgeries and peripheral nerve surgeries are routinely performed.

Otolaryngology (pronounced oh/toe/lair/in/goll/oh/jee) is a specialty of medicine and surgical management which diagnose and treat patients with diseases and disorders of the ear, nose, throat (ENT), and related structures of the head and neck. Otolaryngologists are commonly referred to as ENT physicians and is the oldest medical specialty in the United States.

Services

Ears: UVENT offers medical and surgical services in hearing loss, ear infections, balance disorders, ear noise (tinnitus), and some cranial nerve disorders.

Nose: The nasal cavity and sinus region is UVENT’s core focus with services in chronic or recurrent sinus infections, smell disorders, polyps, sinus tumors and nasal obstruction due to a deviated septum. UVENT also performs a minimally invasive sinus procedure using balloon technology, reducing complications and post-op pain related to sinus surgery. Dr. Judkins was one of the first ENT surgeons in the area to offer this procedure.

Throat: UVENT has extensive experience treating snoring, sleep apnea and tonsil issues. In addition, we  perform biopsies in the oral cavity and throat.

Head and Neck: UVENT treats infections, benign (non-cancerous) and malignant (cancerous) tumors, facial trauma, and deformities of the face.

Allergy: Services include allergy testing, immunotherapy and special interest in food sensitivities.
